Sherman - In Memory - UPDATE: I am very sad to report, that Sherman passed away from undetermined causes early fall 2006, just a few short months after the completion of this painting. As his human mother explains: "We are still reeling from his death and I am comforted knowing that his memory will live on thru your art" .....Michele Alley-Grubb.

Sherman was the sole survivor of a defunct dairy. His mother, aunts and all the other cows and calves were trucked off to slaughter. Somehow Sherman hid and was not discovered during the loading of the trucks. A few months later a neighbor of the deserted property noticed a starving calf eating with her horses. The rest is history. Sherman retired at a wonderful sanctuary called Peaceful Prairie, located in Colorado. Sherman was described as a big handsome fellow who was playful and mischievous. She says he would comes to her office window every morning and looks in until she would gets up to give him his morning carrot. Sherman loved to be scratched and followed everyone around like 800 pound puppy.

Thank goodness for people like Michele and for Peaceful Prarie Sanctuary for their good work to help animals like Sherman!
