~"Compassionate
Lesson Plans" Launching
Spring 2011. Two new stories, created from "real
life experiences" are in production. These easy to read
come with accompanying lesson plans to be used in grades 1-6.
Each lesson plan will walk educators through steps which allow
children of all ages to express their emotions and understanding
of what they read, and to instigate their own story and illustration
from a compassionate act they created in their own lives.
"Midnight Calling" a true story about
a rescue kittie, Horus, who spends a week on his own in the
wilds of the woods, speaks of his happiness to be home. Perfect
for preschool to 2nd grade. "The Little Whale Who
Left A Big Impression" is a true story about
a stranded whale, and his life and passing as a result of
old age. Perfect for children in grades 3-6. Books will be
available at a discount for quantity orders for Title One
schools and nonprofit organizations and wildlife centers.
Sample
writings from the story: ........Nearly
three-quarters of the earth's surface is covered by water.
Beneath the rhythmic surface currents and rolling shadows
atop the hissing seas is a world where coral reefs, swaying
vegetation and a swirling universe of luminous fish create
a landscape that is uniquely beautiful. Slower moving sea
creatures such as clams and sea snails, crabs, sea sponges,
sea stars, anemone, and urchins, add moving, vivid color to
the scenery. Squid, sharks, barracudas, moray eels, gulf flounder
and other fish dash and dart about as if they have some place
important to go. Sea turtles, some as old as 100 years carry
their homes with them. Sea mammals - dolphins, whales, manatee,
and porpoises - glide through the water, at times frolicking
to the sounds of clicks, creaks and murmurs.
Far from the shoreline, you might also
refer to as the "beach", in the salt waters of the
Gulf of Mexico, is my home. I spend much of my time at the
seaward edge of the continental shelf where the ocean floor
drops sharply to an immeasurably great depth. The beauty here
is like no other
..for my species relaxes in dark blues,
shades of mist greens and burnt umber swirling and twirling
with the ebb and flow of the currents.
I am one of an elusive species, the Dwarf
Sperm Whale........
..........To my knowledge, human eyes have never beheld
my dark steel gray, robust body. . .not until today. On June
2, 2002, I became stranded alone on a beach in Naples, Florida.
