"Jake The Wonder Dog"

Jake was obtained as a result of sad and hectic situation and was an owner surrender. Jake was in transition, as his prior owners could no longer care for him because they fell on hard times and needed to sell their home. They were living in a camper with too many other animals and he was the odd man out! There was no longer room for the gentle giant!

He is a mix of Great Dane, Saint Bernard, Newfoundland/Pointer, and small pony.......we are guessing of course! He is 9 years old, is underweight, and with gum disease and decayed teeth. He has undiagnosed tumors, and open wounds on his front and back legs.

We are not asking for miracles, nor are we willing to put him through intensive surgeries & additional trauma for his ailments. Our goal is to give him logical quality of life for his remaining days. He is living in a foster home, and has shown great dignity, the personality of a puppy, and that of a highly intelligent and loving old man, quite the most dedicated and loyal geriatric companion he is!

Jake is able to run and play freely, sleep where he chooses, and just take in life as it comes. He is happy and content to have a home that loves him regardless of his ailing body, and has blossomed into a remarkable fellow.

Jake will be the recipient of October/November's proceeds. Funds will go towards ensuring an extra healthy diet, vitamins and herbal supplements, basic medical treatment and most importantly, buy him time so he can leave this earth with a memory that people are good. He will remember us knowing that we all don't abandon our elderly when their bodies grow tired.

UPDATE November 15, 2002: Jake has been on quality food and vitamines and additives to help his skin. Recently he underwent surgery for his gums and decayed teeth. We are hopeful that will be able to help him gain significant weight back as a result of the attention to his mouth/teeth. He is doing well, and seems very happy and recovering in the comfort of two female companions (Lillie & Molly). He has made great progress both physically and emotionally, and seems to feel right at home and comfortable in his new environment.

Large tumors which are yet to be diagnosed

What a happy smile despite severe gum disease, worn down teeth with nerves & roots open to bacteria, a cracked nose like the desert, and some vision issues. All he wants is love- Can you Help Jake?.
